Automation of lawnmowers reduces labor shortages, increases productivity

SScythe Robotics has received more than 5,000 pre-orders of its electric, autonomous mower Scythe M.52

 

Featuring 360-degree sensors and environmental monitoring AI, the mower can autonomously navigate areas and self-adjust to meet different grass thicknesses as it mows. In addition, the product is entirely electric and so produces no emissions and is far quieter than traditional mowers.

 

The Scythe M.52 also captures real-time data on property and mower performance, helping landscape businesses streamline operations and manage labor costs.

 

The company’s pipeline of autonomous robots is envisioned as a means of aiding continuing labor shortages and bringing much-needed technological development to the industry of commercial landscaping. 

 

Scythe Robotics co-founder Jack Morrison said the company is on a “massive trajectory” for growth. “Our mower, currently fielded in three states, solves labor shortages that have persisted for years and increases the productivity of landscaping crews,” he said.

 

“This all comes with the environmental benefits of zero emissions and quieter mowing, which is very important to landscapers who play a crucial role as caretakers for outdoor environments.”
