AI

First, you should make sure that you are thinking about the challenge present from AI. AI has become a buzzword in the industry as of late. So, what does it truly mean for workers? Well, if you speak to a manager, they’ll tell you that AI is a tool and it always will be. However, some people are giving the game away when they speak about AI. Ultimately the final goal is to solve the productivity issue plaguing countries right now. But, as well as this, they want to make sure that there are systems in place that will allow true automation. This is what AI provides. So, how can you protect yourself from a piece of software taking your job. The ideal option would be to pick a career that has a low chance of being eliminated by AI. This is often careers that require a lot of creativity, thought and skill. While AI can be used for processes, it can solve these issues…yet.

Wellbeing

Next, you should consider whether you are career is impacting your wellbeing, your mental health or your physical health. It’s not worth working if it’s going to leave your health in a catastrophic state. Don’t forget that your employer has a duty of care. This means that they need to protect and preserve your health for the future. If you are wondering how they should do this, well, there’s lots of different options. Some employers will complete temperature checks. This essentially means that they’ll monitor your wellbeing and ensure that your health isn’t being impacted by elements like your workload or your work environment.

Development

Another reason to think about changing your career is to ensure future developments. It might be that you feel like you’re in a dead-end position with no chance of growth in the future. If that’s the case, then it’s a solid reason to move on and look at other prospects on the market. This could mean continuing in the same industry in a different role or moving on from it completely.

Income

Another point to consider is your income. It’s possible that you have a financial position that you want to achieve in life. To do this, you are always going to have to consider your salary and whether it’s enough for you to get there.

This might mean that you need to aggressively pursue promotions. Or depending on the current sector that you are a part of it could mean that you need to look at an entirely new career in your life. This might be the best option if you are working in a low paying area of the economy.

Energy

Do you feel exhausted when you finish work? If so, then this is a clear sign that it isn’t the right choice for you in the future. There are lots of different ways that you can boost your energy level. For instance, you might want to think about looking at some supplements. If these don’t work, then you should consider whether you would be happier in a whole other career.

Goals

Start thinking in terms of your goals and what you are going to be able to achieve in your current job and what you could potentially achieve by making a switch. For instance, you might have the goal of helping people in life. If that’s the case, then you should training to be a health care worker. You could start by exploring some CPR certification classes. These are easy to fit into your typical schedule and you’ll get a lot out of it.

Dreading Work

Next, you should consider whether you have started to dread work. This is often one of the clearest sign that you should absolutely look into a different career option. It could also suggest the fact that you are currently trying to operate in a toxic work environment and it’s always best to move on from that.

Misaligning Values

This is a biggest problem than you might imagine. You might have started working for a business because they are committed to the planet. However, overtime, they may have turned more towards the right profit standards. If that’s the case, then it’s important to make sure that you are thinking about how to move forward. For instance, you could suggest to your manager that they refocus their position back on what matters. Or, you might want to think about looking for a business that does line up with your goals.

Challenges

Finally, it’s possible that you aren’t getting enough of a challenge in your career. This will often be the case because your career has stagnated. If you are worried about this, then we recommend that you think about speaking to your manager first before then starting to look elsewhere on the job market. There is a certain element of better the devil you know than the devil you don’t. This means that you shouldn’t be in a rush to leave your current job because you could end up with someone worse to work for.

We hope this helps you understand some of the key signs that it is time for a total change in your career. Doing so can provide you a better quality of life and ensure that you feel as your career is providing you with a rewarding life. Remember, you’re going to spend 30% of your life working. When you take into account traffic and sleep, this means that you’ll spend more time at work then virtually any other aspect of your life.
